The European Volunteering Capital Competition promotes the visibility and recognition of policies that support volunteering, with the aim of boosting local volunteering and aligning initiatives with the European context.
Who can take part:
- Municipalities of any size belonging to a member state of the Council of Europe.
What will participants do?
- An online application form with specific questions focusing on current performance and existing practices relating to volunteering;
- An accompanying document outlining the “Municipality’s strategy for future growth regarding access to quality volunteering, its impact, and the legacy of the European Volunteering Capital title for volunteers and solidarity at local, national and European levels”;
- An EV Capital Impact Measurement Plan.
- A video of no more than 5 minutes to showcase volunteering in the municipality and how it is promoted and supported, and an in-person presentation in Brussels during the week of 15 October 2026, including impact measurement data. The video should help demonstrate how volunteering policies and programmes are implemented in the municipality.
Benefits:
- Apply for funding to host and send volunteers from the European Solidarity Corps.
- Take part in a study visit for members of the “Community of Candidates for European Volunteering Capital”.
- Contact the ECC secretariat to explore the possibility of organising an ECC event.
- Organise other initiatives within the framework of the “Community of Candidates for European Volunteering Capital”
