Duties of the position
The appointee will be expected to do independent empirical research activities with focus in the field of perceptual psychology; participate in the research activities of the research unit, which focuses on the areas of spatial cognition, virtual reality, time-to-contact estimation and optical illusions; implementate courses in the B.Sc. Psychology and M.Sc. Psychology degree pro-grams with a focus on application-oriented cognitive psychology; coordination of the Experimental Psychology Internship module in the B.Sc. Psychology program as well as implementation and further development of practical methods and statistics training as part of the module; supervise final theses in the B.Sc. and M.Sc. Psychology degree programs; acquire and implementate third-party funded projects and pursue a Habilitation.
Required selection criteria
Applicants should possess a successfully completed scientific university degree in psychology; a doctorate in the field of general psychology, after successfully completing a university degree, full-time employment of at least two years and six months; research focus(s) ideally in the areas of visual perception, virtual reality and/or psychophysics; experience in the implementation and execution of experiments in virtual reality on cognitive psychological questions (e.g. in Python, Vizard); excellent knowledge of the methodological inventory of experimental psychology and psychophysics; profound teaching experience especially in research practice-oriented courses to teach skills and abilities in experimental research design, data collection and data analysis; profound teaching experience in software-based data preparation and analysis in SPSS and/or R; experience in the independent implementation of third-party funded projects and in the supervision of doctoral projects; high level of independence and organizational skills, strong commitment and willingness to perform; willingness to participate in academic self-administration; strong team orientation and commitment and enjoyment of conceptual and empirical experimental work.
