The European Commission has opened the call for applications for the9th edition of its Youth4Regions programme for aspiring journalists. In October 2025, selected participants will spend a week in Brussels, where they will receive practical training and specialised mentoring, experience being in the press rooms and participate in exclusive visits to EU institutions and media organisations. This year, applications are open in three categories (general journalism, photojournalism and videojournalism) for students and young journalists from EU Member States, neighbouring countries and candidate countries.
Since its launch in 2017, Youth4Regions has helped more than 250 young journalists hone their skills, expand their networks and gain valuable insights into the world of EU journalism. The deadline is 7 July 2025, and the Commission covers all costs of the programme. Applications can be submitted via the programme’s website.
Finally, participants will also have the opportunity to compete for the prestigious Megalizzi – Niedzielski Prize, which rewards exceptional young journalists and will be awarded on 14 October 2025.
