The European Commissioner for Agriculture and Food, Christophe Hansen, is visiting Seville today and the areas affected by flooding near Jerez de la Frontera.
The Commissioner will begin his visit in Seville, where he will meet with the President of the Andalusian Regional Government, Juanma Moreno, at the Palacio de San Telmo.
He will then travel to the neighbourhood of La Ina, near Jerez de Frontera, to see first-hand the effects of the recent storms. There, the Commissioner for Agriculture and the President of the Regional Governmentwill hold a meeting with the media.

At 4 p.m., at the headquarters of the Irrigators’ Community (Avenida del Desarrollo Tecnológico, 12. Parque Agroalimentario. Jerez de la Frontera), the Commissioner and the President of the Regional Government will hold a meeting with representatives of the region’s agricultural sector, including the Andalusian Young Farmers’ Association (ASAJA), the Andalusian Farmers’ and Stockbreeders’ Union (COAG), the Andalusian Small Farmers’ and Stockbreeders’ Union (UPA-Andalucía) and Agri-Food Cooperatives in Andalusia (graphics only).

“This visit to Andalusia will allow me to assess first-hand the damage caused by the recent torrential rains and to listen to the concerns of farmers affected by these tragic weather events.
I want to tell them: the European Commission is on your side and will support you. We need all farmers to ensure our food security and quality of life. In my meetings, I will also discuss with the authorities the possibilities for aid and support.”
