Girls Go STEM is an educational initiative led by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), coordinated by EIT Raw Materials and supported by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Education, Youth, Sport and Culture. Its mission is to equip students, particularly young women, with digital and entrepreneurial skills through the Circular Learning Space, raising awareness of sustainability and preparing them for their future careers.
Girls Go Circular invites students and former pupils to explore the world of cybersecurity and its potential to solve real-world social challenges, and to win a trip to attend the 2026 Women and Girls in STEM Forum.
Who can apply?
- Girls aged between 14 and 19, in teams of 2 to 4 members, supported by a teacher or mentor.
- Individual applications are not accepted.
- Teams may include students from different schools and countries, but each team must register under a single country.
- Participants or former participants inthe Girls Go Circular project
- From one of the eligible countries: Albania, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Kosovo, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Moldova, Montenegro, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, the United Kingdom and Ukraine.
How to take part
- Participants must work in teams on the theme: ‘Keeping space clean and safe’.
- Each team must create a design (a drawing or a simple 3D model), explain their choice of materials and demonstrate what would happen if the component failed.
- Each team must submit a slide presentation and a short video (no longer than one minute) explaining their idea.
Prizes
The finalist team selected in each country will be invited to attend the 2026 Forum on Women and Girls in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).
Each group will be accompanied by a representative from the school’s teaching staff.
