The European Commission has launched a targeted consultation to seek public input on rule of law developments, both at national and EU level, as part of the preparation of the Rule of Law Report 2025.
The consultation is open to judicial associations, civil society, NGOs, international organisations, EU agencies and other interested parties. The information received will help the Commission to assess developments in the rule of law in the Member States since the last publication of the report in July 2024.
The Rule of Law Report is at the heart of the EU’s annual monitoring cycle, which aims to pre-emptively address potential problems and foster dialogue on rule of law issues, both at European and national level. In previous editions of the Rule of Law report, the annual targeted stakeholder consultations provided valuable information, both horizontal and country-specific.
The consultation is available online until 24 January 2025.
