To mark International Women’s Day, the European Documentation Centre at the University of Almería, in collaboration with the UAL Equality Unit, is organising an activity consisting of a bingo game called “Women creating Europe”, focusing on the role and importance of women in Europe and, specifically, in the European Union.
Through this fun and participatory activity, the aim is for students and participants to understand the message that, without the efforts of all women, Europe would not be what it is today. In this way, the historically invisible work of women in the construction of the European Union is highlighted and remembered.
Activity dynamics
The activity consists of a bingo game with a different and more participatory approach than the traditional one. In this case, the cards, which will be received digitally, do not consist of numbers but of important women in European history, European institutions and policies on equality, relevant concepts and terms, data and statistics, important dates and European values.
In this way, questions will be asked which the participants must answer, and the answer will be the square they must cross off. Those who manage to complete a line and get bingo must call it out in order to start the activity again.
All those attending the event will receive gifts from the European Documentation Centre. This activity is in no way intended to encourage gambling or addiction; it focuses on learning about certain concepts and data relevant to the construction of European values in the field of gender equality, as well as celebrating and highlighting the important role of women in Europe.
Date, time and place
This activity will take place on 5 March 2026, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the E. Pezzi Lecture Hall of the CC Education Department Building at the University of Almería.
The activity is open to the university community and the general public interested in learning about and highlighting the role of women in the construction of the European Union.
