The EU is looking for highly qualified administrators (AD6) in the field of maritime affairs and fisheries. Recruited experts will mainly work at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (DG MARE).

As an administrator in the field of maritime affairs and fisheries, you will contribute to policy development and implementation in the following areas: the Common Fisheries Policy, ocean governance (including law of the sea), and maritime policies (all industries and sectors related to oceans, seas and coasts, whether based in the marine environment or on land).

You may also develop, implement, monitor and evaluate EU policies and legislation and participate in international and inter-institutional negotiations. Your tasks may furthermore include coordination on international ocean governance issues, maritime security and surveillance and the implementation of the new approach on sustainable blue economy. You may also perform audits, verifications and inspections of fisheries and liaise with scientific bodies, committees and institutes in the field of fisheries and/or ocean governance.

As an employer, the institutions and agencies of the EU offer a community of expertise with a wide range of opportunities to broaden your learning, enhance your skills, and develop your career. The multicultural, international and diverse teams that make up the institutions work together to benefit the lives of approximately 450 million EU citizens and beyond.

Respect for cultural diversity and promotion of equal opportunities are founding principles of the EU, and the European Personnel Selection Office endeavours to apply equal opportunities treatment and access to all candidates.

Do you have what it takes?

If you are an EU citizen and know at least two official EU languages: a thorough knowledge of one language and a satisfactory knowledge of another one, then you are the one we are looking for.

Additionally, you must have: either a university degree of at least 4 years of studies followed by at least 3 years’ professional experience directly related to the duties of the profile, or a university degree of at least 3 years of studies followed by at least 4 years’ professional experience directly related to the duties of the profile.
