Resumen:La Alianza Atlántica de Investigación Oceánica es un esfuerzo de diplomacia científica entre los países a lo largo y ancho del Océano Atlántico. Se basa en los éxitos de las Declaraciones de Galway y Belém, firmadas respectivamente en 2013 y 2017 entre la Unión Europea y sus socios atlánticos. La UE ha invertido en más de 40 proyectos con más de 250 millones de euros para promover la cooperación entre científicos europeos e internacionales de todo el Atlántico, convirtiéndose en un importante inversor y actor en la investigación del Océano Atlántico. Los resultados de los proyectos son una ciencia adecuada que impulsará la política en los próximos años y ofrecerá una base importante para la próxima fase de la Alianza Atlántica de Investigación e Innovación Oceánica, que se iniciará con la nueva Declaración Política firmada en Washington, D.C. (EE.UU.) en julio de 2022.
Summary:The All-Atlantic Ocean Research Alliance is a science diplomacy effort between countries along and across the Atlantic Ocean. It builds on the successes of the Galway and Belém Statements, signed respectively in 2013 and 2017 between the European Union and its Atlantic partners. The EU has invested in more than 40 projects with over EUR 250 million to promote cooperation between European and international scientists from around the Atlantic, making itself a major investor and player in Atlantic Ocean research. The results of the projects are fit-for-purpose science that will drive policy in the years to come, and will offer an important basis for the next phase of the All-Atlantic Ocean Research and Innovation Alliance, kicking off with the new Political Declaration signed in Washington, D.C. (U.S.) in July 2022.
