The European Parliament’s Petitions Committee in Brussels on 8 April examined three Spanish petitions on the transposition of the European directive on the common VAT system in the European Union, the alleged non-compliance with the directive on flood risks in Spain and the working conditions of doctors in the public health system in Ceuta and Melilla.
In Tuesday’s session, the Petitions Committee discussed three Spanish petitions on different issues.
The first petition is on the transposition of directive 2020/285 on the EU’s common system of value added tax (VAT).
The second petition, at around 15:00, dealt with alleged non-compliance with Directive 2007/60/EC on the assessment and management of flood risks in Spain.
The third petition, on behalf of the Consejo General de Colegios Oficiales de Médicos, was debated from 15:00 and concerns the working conditions of doctors in the public health system in the autonomous cities of Ceuta and Melilla.
Petitions to be shelved
Three Spanish petitions have been proposed for closure after having received replies from the European Commission. These petitions deal with discrimination based on nationality in the purchase of housing in Italy, the regulation of caffeine consumption by minors and the closure of the Granada-Guadix-Baza-Almanzora-Lorca railway line.
