The Network of Regional Hubs (RegHub) held an event in Brussels on 7 February to launch the upcoming CoR consultation on the evaluation of the 2014 Public Procurement Directives and to prepare the launch of the next phase of the network.
In the morning, the Hubs took part in an interactive session which looked back on their experiences as network members, followed by a forward-looking discussion on the future of RegHub and the challenges of the Better Regulation agenda in the new EU mandate.
In the afternoon, there was a presentation on the CoR consultation on the evaluation of the Public Procurement Directives and a state of play on the European Commission’s evaluation. A panel debate then brought together Sara Matthieu, MEP (BE/Greens), Anne Karjalainen, CoR member (FI/PES), Valentina Schaumburger, European Commission, Helga Berger, European Court of Auditors, and Tanja Struve, Council of European Municipalities and Regions, for an in-depth analysis of what is required for a successful revision of the Directives.
The event concluded with an information session on RegHub and the forthcoming launch of its next phase. A call for applications for new members is planned for April/May 2025.
The CoR and RegHub are grateful for the morning session and lunch kindly hosted by Dr. Mark Speich, State Secretary for Federal, European and International Affairs and Media of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, in the North Rhine-Westphalia EU Representation Office.
