The scholarships are intended to support graduates in the early stages of their doctoral studies, during which they will develop research proposals to submit to a funding body such as the Swiss National Science Foundation in order to secure financial support for the remaining duration of their doctoral projects. Payment of the second installment of the scholarship depends on the submission of this funding proposal.
Candidates should be highly motivated to pursue an independent research project in an interdisciplinary setting and demonstrate a deep interest in current debates in the social sciences.
