MS-RADAM (“MultiScale phenomena in RAdiation DAMage”) is a European Doctoral Network project funded by the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) programme.
MS-RADAM aims to advance the understanding of key radiation-induced biodamage phenomena at the nano- and larger scales, with applications in particle therapy, radiotherapy, and radioprotection. These include the formation of DNA strand breaks by ionising radiation, DNA repair, radiosensitisation by metal nanoparticles, cell survival and radioresistance.
MS-RADAM invites applications for a 36-month, full-time, fixed-term position as a Doctoral Candidate (DC). The successful candidate will be employed by Institut de Chimie Physique, CNRS in Orsay, France, and enrolled in the PhD programme at Université Paris-Saclay. The Institut de Chimie Physique (ICP, Institute for Physical Chemistry) is a research unit which was built upon the integration of several teams of physical and analytical chemists within the Orsay perimeter of the Université Paris-Saclay.
The different tasks of the project are:
- Nanoparticles synthesis, functionalization and characterization
- Elaboration of protocols for sensitive quantification of radicals and molecular species produced by radiolysis in the presence of nanoparticles (O2-, 1O2….)
- Quantify chemicals species emitted for different beam types (photons, electrons, ions) and setting (along the Bragg peak)
- Quantification of the impact of Cerenkov light

- hold a University Master’s Degree in experimental chemistry or physical chemistry, or a related field
- be available to start on 01.09.2026
- have excellent English language skills (both spoken and written)
- be able to travel internationally on a regular basis, e.g. to attend regular project meetings, conferences and training activities
