The research group Psychophysiologie du stress et de la santé au travail at Unisanté (Lausanne, Switzerland), led by Dr. Patrick Gomez, invites applications for a PhD position within the SNSF-funded project “Working in fear of missing out (FOMO) in the digital age”. Our group investigates the interplay between emotional states, psychological wellbeing, and health in work-related contexts. Using a psychophysiological approach, we combine biological, behavioral, and psychological indicators to understand the mechanisms of stress, recovery, and health. The present project will investigate how employees’ workplace FOMO relates to psychological, biological, and behavioral indicators of wellbeing and health.

Position details

  • Type of contract: SNSF PhD contract (gross monthly salary: approx. CHF 4,500)
  • Duration: 4 years
  • Start date: March or April 2026, or by agreement
  • Location: Unisanté, Route de la Corniche 21, CH-1010 Lausanne

Your tasks

  • Plan, prepare, and conduct the project “Working in fear of missing out (FOMO) in the digital age”, including an ambulatory assessment study among employees using ICT for work
  • Write high-quality scientific publications and present findings at meetings and conferences
  • Collaborate with and support Dr. Gomez in other research and teaching activities

Profile sought

  • Master’s degree in psychology or life sciences (completed or to be completed before the project start date)
  • Experience in research, including quantitative data analysis and scientific writing in English
  • Strong statistical skills; proficiency in R, Mplus, or STATA is an asset
  • Excellent command of French and English (C1/C2 level or native proficiency)
  • Keen interest in empirical research and motivation for a scientific career
  • Attention to detail, reliability, and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
