There is a vacancy for a PhD position at the Department of Economics. The position is for a fixed-term period of 4 years, of which 25% will be dedicated to teaching, supervision and administrative tasks at the Department.

The Department of Economics seeks highly motivated and talented candidates for the PhD programme in economics. The doctoral programme aims to provide thorough training in economic theory and methods and to educate candidates capable of conducting research of high international quality. The programme prepares candidates for the international academic labour market, as well as for positions in policy-making, public administration, research institutes, and analytical positions in the private and public sectors.

Requirements

  • The applicant must hold a master’s degree or the equivalent in economics.
  • The degree must be completed prior to commencement of the position (tentatively August 2026).
  • The requirements are generally a grade B or better on the Master thesis and for the master’s degree in total
  • Applicants must be able to work independently and in a structured manner and demonstrate good collaborative skills
  • The applicant must be proficient in both written and oral English
  • Personal and relational qualities will be emphasized. Ambitions and potential will also count when evaluating the candidate.

  • Salary as PhD (code 1017) NOK 568 700, – per year. Automatic salary increases for up to 4 years with a 3% annual increase
