The Commissioner for Defence and Space, Andrius Kubilius, and the Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos, are bringing together representatives from Member States, partner countries and the international community involved in institution-building to reaffirm the EU’s commitment to enlargement and global partnerships.
This meeting marks the 30th anniversary of the Technical Assistance and Information Exchange Instrument (TAIEX), which has become a key tool in assisting countries seeking EU membership. By sharing the knowledge and expertise of EU Member States, TAIEX strengthens public services, supports the adoption of EU legislation and drives accession-related reforms, ensuring that partner countries are prepared to implement meaningful and lasting reforms. TAIEX also supports partner countries worldwide in tackling crucial challenges such as digital transformation, climate resilience, public health, economic modernisation and the creation of robust business environments. This work strengthens the EU’s partnerships, improves trade relations and promotes the adoption of EU standards based on shared best practices.
During the event, Commissioner Kos will present the TAIEX Champions Awards, which recognise exceptional contributions to reform and cooperation through expertise.
