The Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions (MSCA) are part of Horizon Europe (2021-2027), the EU’s key funding programme for research and innovation. They are the European Union’s flagship funding programme for doctoral education and postdoctoral training of researchers. The Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions provide grants at all stages of researchers’ careers, from PhD candidates to highly experienced researchers, and encourage research cooperation across borders, sectors and disciplines.

individuals and organisations working in any area of research.
Actions
- MSCA Doctoral Networks: support for joint research training and/or doctoral programmes, implemented by European partnerships of universities, research institutions, and non-academic organisations.
Three modalities are available:

Standard Doctoral Networks – general doctoral training.

Industrial Doctorates – joint academic–non-academic supervision, with strong industrial involvement.

Joint Doctorates – leading to joint, double, or multiple doctoral degrees awarded by collaborating institutions.

Eligibility and Key Requirements
-
Consortia must include at least three independent legal entities established in three different EU Member States or Horizon Europe Associated Countries.

Each doctoral candidate must:
-
Be recruited under an employment contract.
-
Enroll in a doctoral programme and comply with mobility rules (no residence or main activity in the host country for more than 12 months in the 36 months prior to recruitment).

Have an individual Career Development Plan (CDP), reviewed every 18 months, covering research, transferable skills, teaching, and dissemination activities.

Projects must integrate scientific training, transferable skills development, and intersectoral/interdisciplinary mobility.
