On the 2nd, the President of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez, together with the President of the Autonomous City of Melilla, Juan José Imbroda, and the Minister of Health of the Spanish Government, Mónica García, inaugurated the new University Hospital of Melilla. The project has involved a total investment of 150 million euros. Of this total investment, €15 million has come from the European Regional Development Fund in the multiannual financial framework 2021-2027, where it has been considered a strategic operation. A further €34.16 million from the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism has been used to improve the equipment available in several specialised units. This includes, among others, new inpatient surgical, emergency and resuscitation, neonatal ICU and paediatric emergency units and state-of-the-art equipment, such as the Da Vinci surgical robot and equipment for 3 Tesla MRI scans.
