Radboud University is offering a position as an assistant professor on the topic of exoplanets and their stellar environments.
Duties of the position
The appointee will be expected to encompass plasma physics, stellar structure and evolution, planet formation, and atmospheric chemistry (including laboratory experiments at the FELIX laboratory); develop into a leading role in their research field and education; supervise PhD candidates and postdoctoral researchers; take on management tasks and create societal impact by setting up collaborations with partners outside academia, participating in advisory bodies, giving talks at (high) schools and/or making media appearances.
Required selection criteria
Applicants should possess a PhD in Astrophysics or a related field and experience as an independent researcher in the area mentioned above; the drive to set up, supervise and support a thriving research group, including students and PhD candidates; a track record of publications in relevant international journals, invitations to conferences, and other scientific distinctions, commensurate with your career stage; ability or will to acquire external funding for your research; enthusiasm about teaching and eager to participate in the educational programs of our institute; ability to communicate well with colleagues at all levels; team working mindset and interest in communicating your science to wider society (e.g. in the form of science communication, science valorisation, or science policy).
Benefits
The selected candidate will be offered a temporary contract for 18 months as Assistant Professor level 2 with the prospect of a permanent contract and promotion to Assistant Professor level 1 in case of a positive evaluation of your performance, an 8% holiday allowance, an 8,3% end-of-year bonus, access to the Dual Career and Family Support Service and extra days off.
