A tender is open for the attribution of 2 (two) Master Research Scholarship within the scope of the R&D FireBIM Project – Refª 12638 – NORTE2030-FEDER-00358400, co-financed by the European Union through the NORTE2030 Regional Program
The work to be developed is framed within the scope of the FireBIM project, which aims to automatically verify the compliance of building designs with fire safety standards using BIM tools and the FireBIM platform
Duties of the position
- Develop a methodology for interpreting and digitizing fire safety regulations for buildings using Artificial Intelligence algorithms, including the definition of automatic verification methods.
- Support the development of an open-source platform that enables the automatic verification of fire safety requirements, based on BIM models, where all relevant information is structured, following an ontology that describes the physical and functional requirements of the building.
- Development of a methodology for digital surveys of existing buildings using drones, photogrammetry and LiDAR, and algorithms that allow the automatic extraction of geometric and non-geometric information, for incorporation into BIM models and subsequent validation on the FireBIM platform.
Required selection criteria
Candidates who cumulatively meet the following requirements can apply for this announcement:
Requirement 1: hold a Master´s degree in Civil Engineering with a minimum rating of 14 values (in 20). Note: If the qualification has been granted by a foreign higher education institution, it must comply with the provisions of Decree-Law No. 66/2018, of August 16th, and any formalities established therein must be fulfilled by the time of hiring.
Requirement 2: have proven experience of at least 2 years in research and development activities in the area of Civil Engineering.
Benefits
- Monthly scholarship value: € 1259.64, paid by bank transfer (in accordance with the values of the monthly maintenance allowance applicable to FCT scholarships and referring to the year 2024: https://www.fct.pt/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/Tabela-de-Valores-SMM_atu…), supported through the PAD’s number C64982.
- The scholarship will last for 6 months, scheduled to probably start at 1st November 2024, and eventually renewable in accordance with the project’s objectives and its budget, up to the limit established in the legislation, to be carried out on an exclusive basis, according to the regulations for advanced training of human resources of the Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia and the ISEP.
