Título: Main IP barriers when doing business in Latin America
Summary:Only less than 9 % of EU small businesses own IPRs1 and that is not because the other 91% does not have any protectable IP, but mainly because they are not aware of the importance of IP to their business (neither the business opportunities nor the risk they are missing). Behind this, there are many misconceptions that go from thinking that they have nothing worth protecting, that they don't deal with anything they have to pay attention to; or that they operate in non IP-intense sectors, to believing that size matters (in other words, IP is for big companies only); or that registration can wait for a more mature time (low-profile approach).
