Título: How to make Europe’s Digital Decade fit for children and young people? A report from the consultation with children and young people
Resumen:Los niños y los jóvenes son el futuro. Deberían sentarse a la mesa cuando se está dando forma y construyendo la Década Digital de Europa. Están creciendo en una época en la que estar desconectado apenas es una opción. Esta nueva generación entiende y abraza el mundo digital de una manera diferente a la de los mayores, y esto incluye a los responsables políticos y a otras partes interesadas que están impulsando las reglas de Internet y su gobernanza. En nuestra opinión, los adultos deberían hacerlo mejor e intentar beneficiarse de la experiencia y la capacidad que tienen los niños y los jóvenes. Esto les ayudará a identificar los principales riesgos y desafíos en juego, pero también a aportar una perspectiva más innovadora a las oportunidades y beneficios en línea para la sociedad en su conjunto.

Summary:Children and young people are the future. They should sit around the table when Europe’s Digital Decade is being shaped and built. They are growing up in a time where being offline is hardly an option. This new generation understands and embraces the digital world in a different way than older people do – and this includes policy makers and other stakeholders who are driving the rules of the internet and its governance. In our view, adults should do better and try to benefit from the experience and ability that children and young people have. This will help them to identify the key risks and challenges at stake, but also to bring a more innovative perspective to online opportunities and benefits for society as a whole.
