Título: Consumer understanding of origin labelling on food packaging and its impact on consumer product evaluation and choices
Resumen:El objetivo de este proyecto es revisar y sintetizar sistemáticamente la investigación empírica relativa a por qué los consumidores consideran importante el origen de los alimentos, cómo y por qué influye en las elecciones de los consumidores, o cómo y por qué los consumidores entienden o no, interpretan y confían en la información sobre el origen de los alimentos. Los objetivos específicos se plasmaron en tres preguntas de investigación: 1. ¿Influye el origen de un alimento en las decisiones de compra y en el consumo, y si es así, cómo? 2. ¿Por qué los consumidores consideran importante conocer el origen de los alimentos que compran o consumen? 3. ¿Cómo entienden e interpretan los consumidores la información sobre el origen de los alimentos?
Summary:The purpose of this project is to systematically review and synthesize empirical research regarding why consumers consider the origin of the food important, how and why it influences consumers’ choices, or how and why consumers do or do not understand, interpret and trust information on the origin of food. The specific objectives were expressed in three research questions: 1. Does the origin of a food influence purchase decisions and consumption, and if so, how? 2. Why do consumers find it important to know the origin of the foods they purchase or consume? 3. How do consumers understand and interpret information on the origin of food?
