Título: Comparative evaluation of transhipment technologies for intermodal transport and their cost
Resumen:Este estudio se centra en el transporte intermodal. El transporte intermodal es el movimiento de mercancías (en una misma unidad de carga o en un vehículo) mediante modos de transporte sucesivos sin manipulación de las propias mercancías al cambiar de modo. Con el fin de comprender mejor la competitividad y la eficacia de las diferentes formas de realizar el transporte intermodal, este estudio recoge información detallada sobre las diferentes tecnologías de transbordo intermodal y su uso para el transbordo y el transporte de diferentes tipos de unidades de carga, y analiza su uso y potencial en la red RTE-T. El estudio también evalúa la competitividad del transporte intermodal por unidad transportada en comparación con el transporte exclusivamente por carretera para la misma distancia.
Summary:This study focus on intermodal transport. Intermodal transport is the movement of goods (in one and the same loading unit or a vehicle) by successive modes of transport without handling of the goods themselves when changing modes. In order to better understand the competitiveness and effectiveness of different ways to carry out intermodal transport, this study gathers detailed information on different intermodal transhipment technologies and their use for transhipment and transport of different types of loading units, and analyses their use and potential on the TEN-T network. The study also assesses the competitiveness of the intermodal transport per unit transported when compared to road-only transport for the same distance.
