Resumen:En esta actualización se evalúa el riesgo que supone para la salud pública la propagación de la COV Omicron en el contexto de la transmisión actual de la COV Delta en la UE/EEE. El COV Delta sigue siendo la variante más prevalente, pero la propagación asociada a la comunidad del COV Omicron se está produciendo en la UE/EEE y el COV Omicron probablemente se convertirá en dominante a principios de 2022, según las predicciones de los modelos matemáticos. Por lo tanto, evaluamos la probabilidad de una mayor propagación de la variante Omicron en la UE/EEE como MUY ALTA.
Summary:The risk to public health posed by the spread of the Omicron VOC in the context of ongoing Delta VOC transmission in the EU/EEA is assessed in this update. The Delta VOC remains the most prevalent variant, but community-associated spread of the Omicron VOC is occurring in the EU/EEA and the Omicron VOC will probably become dominant in early 2022, based on mathematical modelling predictions. We therefore assess the probability of further spread of the Omicron variant in the EU/EEA as VERY HIGH.
