The European Commission announced on 6 November a total funding of 2.9 billion for 61 cutting-edge projects, six of them Spanish, in net zero emission technologies under the Innovation Fund.
The Innovation Fund is one of the world’s largest funding programmes for the deployment of innovative zero net emission and low-carbon technologies. It is financed by revenues generated by the EU Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS), a key instrument for reaching our climate targets, while ensuring industrial competitiveness.
The grants have been awarded to projects of different sizes with significant potential to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in various sectors, such as clean technology manufacturing, renewable energy, energy storage and energy-intensive industries. These projects underline the EU’s commitment to strengthen its leadership and manufacturing capacity in Europe for innovative, cutting-edge and net-zero emission technologies, while making further progress towards climate neutrality by 2050.
