The Joint Research Centre (JRC) is a Directorate-General of the European Commission, providing independent science and technology advice to European policymakers.
The JRC offers internships to recent university graduates who wish to acquire scientific work experience and to put into practice the scientific knowledge they have obtained during their studies or professional careers.
The scientific activities of the JRC are divided between the following sites: Geel (Belgium), Ispra (Italy), Karlsruhe (Germany), Petten (the Netherlands) and Seville (Spain).
Eligibility
– Nationals of the Member States of the EU and of countries associated to the Research Framework Programmes. However, a limited number of nationals of non-Member States may also be accepted.
– Excellent knowledge of at least 2 official languages of the EU, one of which should be English (minimum C1)
Non-EU nationals must have a very good knowledge of at least English.
-Recent university graduates who have completed at least a standard 3-year higher education degree (bachelor’s degree).
-The programme focuses on candidates with a scientific background. Depending on the project, the trainee will be expected to perform desktop work and/or laboratory tasks.
Allowance
A monthly allowance between € 1.297,73 and € 1.663,60.
Duration
5 months. Contracts begin on the 1st or the 16 th day of the month.

Internships are published on the JRC’s online web application system (ESRA), on which candidates can apply directly.
