Resumen:El estudio aboga por la introducción de un euro digital por sus ventajas para la reserva de valor del público y las opciones de pago sin efectivo. Cuestiona la hipótesis de que sea necesario limitar las tenencias de euros digitales en aras de la estabilidad financiera y se pronuncia a favor de un planteamiento que permita a todo el mundo un acceso ilimitado a los euros digitales. Este documento ha sido elaborado por la Unidad de Gobernanza Económica y Control de la UEM a petición de la Comisión ECON.
Summary:The study argues in favour of the introduction of a digital euro because of its benefits for the public’s store of value and cashless payment options. It questions the assumption that caps on digital euro holdings would be necessary in the interest of financial stability and favours an approach that allows everyone unlimited access to digital euros.
