Resumen:La pobreza energética, en el sentido de incapacidad para alcanzar un nivel social y materialmente necesario de servicios energéticos domésticos, ha sido identificada por la investigación como debida a tres factores principales: altos precios de la energía, bajos ingresos y bajo rendimiento energético de los edificios. Las mujeres y los hogares dirigidos por mujeres parecen estar desproporcionadamente afectados por la pobreza energética debido a las desigualdades estructurales en la distribución de los ingresos, el estatus socioeconómico y la brecha de género en el cuidado de las personas. Este informe se preparó para el acto organizado por la Comisión de Derechos de la Mujer e Igualdad de Género del Parlamento Europeo con motivo del Día Internacional de la Mujer (DIM), que este año se centra en "los aspectos de género de la pobreza energética". Señala las iniciativas de las tres instituciones europeas -el Parlamento Europeo, la Comisión y el Consejo- a este respecto. También destaca los aspectos relevantes del estudio "The Gender Dimension and Impact of the Fit for 55 Package" - encargado por el Parlamento Europeo - incluyendo sus recomendaciones, relacionadas con el tema del DIM de este año.
Summary:Energy poverty, in the sense of the inability to attain a socially and materially necessitated level of domestic energy services, has been identified by research as being due to three main factors: high energy prices, low incomes and poor energy performance of buildings. Women and women-led households appear to be disproportionately affected by energy poverty due to structural inequalities in income distribution, socioeconomic status and the gender care gap. This briefing was prepared for the event organised by the European Parliament’s Committee on Women’s Rights and Gender Equality at the occasion of International Women’s Day (IWD), which this year elaborates on “the gender aspects of energy poverty”. It points out the initiatives of the three European institutions - the European Parliament, the Commission and the Council - in this regard. It also highlights the relevant aspects of the study “The Gender Dimension and Impact of the Fit for 55 Package - commissioned by the European Parliament - including its recommendations, related to the theme of this years’ IWD.
