The facts are easily corroborated; the attack has been carefully documented with a large number of pictures from several sources \u2013 professional news photographers, social media updates and forensic investigators.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bellingcat.com\/resources\/how-tos\/2022\/02\/08\/tracking-russian-military-vehicles-on-the-move\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">Manuals for open source investigation of Russian troop movements<\/a>\u00a0are easily available; thousands take part and share the facts.<\/p>\n<p>The Kremlin, obdurately lying about \u201cnot targeting civilians\u201d, is attempting to lie about the attack, but faces both of the disadvantages of lying mentioned above. When Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov lies about \u201cno attack taking place\u201d, his lying is just naked and not even shrouded in the veil of credibility. He knows he is lying; he knows everyone knows he is lying. Lavrov\u2019s job is to lie, and he performs poorly, just\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/mid.ru\/ru\/foreign_policy\/news\/themes\/id\/1803752\/?lang=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">parroting talking points<\/a>, handed to him by his masters:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>We have heard an emotionally charged outcry over the so-called \u201catrocities\u201d allegedly committed by the Russian armed forces. Three days ago, on 7 March, our delegation at the UN Security Council meeting\u00a0<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/russiaun.ru\/ru\/news\/070322n\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\"><em>provided<\/em><\/a><em>\u00a0facts to prove that this maternity hospital had been taken over by the far-right Azov battalion, who ordered all pregnant women, medical nurses and other personnel out of the building. You can draw your own conclusions about the manipulation of public opinion around the world.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The Kremlin\u2019s media were quick to repeat Lavrov\u2019s claims.<\/p>\n<table style=\"width: 99.9988%; border-collapse: collapse; border-style: double; border-color: #001f7d;\" cellpadding=\"0,5\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 100%;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/en-que-medida-estan-digitalizadas-las-empresas-de-la-ue\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/fake-news.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"201\" height=\"134\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"entry-title\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/en\/disinformation-7-myths-about-the-russia-ukraine-conflict\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Disinformation: 7 myths about the Russia-Ukraine conflict<\/a><\/h4>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<h4><strong>The ever-green, manipulative narrative of the Azov Battalion<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>One key Kremlin lie about the war against Ukraine is about the country being controlled by Nazis. That very lie has been repeated\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/euvsdisinfo.eu\/disinformation-cases\/?disinfo_keywords%5B%5D=keyword_77101&amp;date=&amp;disinfo_countries%5B%5D=77547&amp;per_page=\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">hundreds of times<\/a>\u00a0during the last few years. Still not true.<\/p>\n<p>The Kremlin regularly tries to \u201cprove\u201d the presence of Nazis in Ukraine, including at the highest levels of government, by using the narrative of the Azov Battalion, a unit of some 1,000 men. The unit was originally set up by nationalists in 2013, and donned some insignia with strong connections to Nazism. The Kremlin disinformation machine has inflated this battalion to enormous and absurdly overblown\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/euvsdisinfo.eu\/disinformation-cases\/?disinfo_keywords%5B%5D=keyword_77160&amp;date=&amp;disinfo_countries%5B%5D=77547&amp;per_page=\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">proportions<\/a>: a fairly small army unit inflated to the size of an entire army. Extremism in Ukraine is a frequent topic for discussions, and the pluralistic society of Ukraine has instruments to handle the challenge of Nazism in the country. All manifestations of Nazism\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/zakon.rada.gov.ua\/laws\/show\/317-19\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">are banned in Ukraine<\/a>. The Verkhovna Rada, at its meeting of 9 April 2015, adopted a law \u201cOn the Condemnation of the Communist and Nazi totalitarian regimes in Ukraine and the prohibition of propaganda of their symbols\u201d. The document recognises that communist and national socialist (Nazi) totalitarian regimes in Ukraine are criminal and prohibits the public use and propaganda of their symbols. The Nazi totalitarian regime at the legislative level is recognised in Ukraine as pursuing a policy of state terror. Also, the right-wing extremists in Ukraine \u2013 whose presence no one is denying \u2013 are in the margins and have\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Elections_in_Ukraine\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">failed miserably in every election<\/a>\u00a0since 2014.<\/p>\n<p>Russia, on the other hand, has frequently allowed propaganda for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/euvsdisinfo.eu\/pro-kremlin-media-attempts-to-make-fascism-politically-correct\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fascism in Kremlin and oligarch media outlets<\/a>, hailing Franco and Mussolini.<\/p>\n<table style=\"width: 99.9988%; border-collapse: collapse; border-style: double; border-color: #001f7d;\" cellpadding=\"0,5\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 100%;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/en-que-medida-estan-digitalizadas-las-empresas-de-la-ue\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/tingey-injury-law-firm-veNb0DDegzE-unsplash-1-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"201\" height=\"134\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"entry-title\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/en\/european-sanctions-against-misinformation-by-the-parliamentary-commission\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">European sanctions against disinformation by the parliamentary commission<\/a><\/h4>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<h4><strong>True Lies<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>The Kremlin is desperately attempting the well-tested means of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/euvsdisinfo.eu\/bullshit-the-noisy-conqueror-of-the-information-space\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">flooding the information space<\/a>\u00a0with contradictory messages in order to obscure the actual facts. It has attempted the method in the cases of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/euvsdisinfo.eu\/skripal-and-the-disinformation-swamp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Skripal<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/euvsdisinfo.eu\/report\/attack-navalny-false-flag-operation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Navalny<\/a>\u00a0and flight\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/euvsdisinfo.eu\/mh17-seven-years-of-lying-and-denying\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MH17<\/a>, to mention just a few. Lies and violence are closely knitted in the Kremlin disinformation efforts. Lies are employed to hide the violence; violence is employed to hide the lies.
