{"id":78526,"date":"2021-09-09T03:00:22","date_gmt":"2021-09-09T01:00:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/?p=78526"},"modified":"2021-09-09T08:19:48","modified_gmt":"2021-09-09T06:19:48","slug":"covid-19-vaccination-in-europe-august","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/en\/covid-19-vaccination-in-europe-august\/","title":{"rendered":"COVID-19 Vaccination in Europe &#8211; August"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/vaccination-in-europe.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-70777\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/vaccination-in-europe-1024x535.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"651\" height=\"340\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/vaccination-in-europe-1024x535.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/vaccination-in-europe-300x157.png 300w, https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/vaccination-in-europe-768x401.png 768w, https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/vaccination-in-europe.png 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 651px) 100vw, 651px\" \/><\/a><\/h2>\n<p>In this article, and with data collected from Our world in Data, we provide an analysis of the evolution of COVID-19 vaccination and hospitalizations in Europe.<\/p>\n<h3>Vaccination in Europe<\/h3>\n<p>During the month of August, a total of <strong>66,817,834<\/strong> people were vaccinated in Europe, reaching a total of <strong>388,418,962<\/strong> citizens, which means that <strong>47.86%<\/strong> of the inhabitants of Europe have already received the full course of one of the authorized vaccines and, therefore, have already been immunized against COVID-19.<\/p>\n<div class=\"flourish-embed flourish-chart\" data-src=\"visualisation\/7170405\"><script src=\"https:\/\/public.flourish.studio\/resources\/embed.js\"><\/script><\/div>\n<p>The European countries which, to date, have vaccinated a higher percentage of their citizens are: <strong>Malta<\/strong> (80.07 % of its population vaccinated), <strong>Iceland<\/strong> (76.8%), <strong>Portugal<\/strong> (73.87%), <strong>Denmark<\/strong> (<strong>72.44%<\/strong>) and <strong>San Marino<\/strong> (<strong>70.41%<\/strong>).<\/p>\n<p>The countries where the pace of vaccination is progressing more slowly to date and have a lower percentage immunized are: <strong>Armenia<\/strong> (1.74%) <strong>Ukraine<\/strong> (8.8%), <strong>Belarus<\/strong> (17%), <strong>Kosovo<\/strong> (13.86%) and <strong>Bulgaria<\/strong> (17%).<\/p>\n<p>Vaccination in the most populated countries<\/p>\n<p>As for the most populous countries in Europe with the highest percentage of vaccinated population are: <strong>Spain<\/strong> (68.31%), <strong>United Kingdom<\/strong> (62.91%), <strong>Italy<\/strong> (60.74%), <strong>Germany<\/strong> (60.11%) and <strong>France<\/strong> (58.65%)<span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"flourish-embed flourish-chart\" data-src=\"visualisation\/7193614\"><script src=\"https:\/\/public.flourish.studio\/resources\/embed.js\"><\/script><\/div>\n<h3>Hospitalizations in Europe<\/h3>\n<p>As of August 31, there were<strong> 35,757<\/strong> hospitalized citizens in Europe, representing a <strong>15%<\/strong> increase in the number of hospitalizations compared to the previous month.
