The Director should ensure that resources are used in the most efficient, effective and economic manner and ensure that activities are carried out in respect of relevant legal obligations, applicable safety and licensing standards of host countries. The Director also ensures an effective evaluation and reporting for its activities (annual progress reports, evaluations, dissemination of results, transfer of knowledge etc.).<\/p>\n<h3>Selection criteria<\/h3>\n<p class=\"oj-normal\">The ideal candidate will be an outstanding and dynamic professional who should fulfil the following selection criteria:<\/p>\n<p><strong>a) Management skills:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>professional experience in high level technical and project management, supervising both internal specialists and external service providers,<\/li>\n<li>strong capacity to manage financial resources in the public service context,<\/li>\n<li>strong capacity to develop strategies and to translate them into practical proposals for action,<\/li>\n<li>ability to efficiently set priorities and objectives and steer the work of teams both locally and remotely.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>b) <span class=\"oj-italic\">Specialist skills and experience<\/span>:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0a thorough knowledge and experience with nuclear safety and security in the context of industrial nuclear decommissioning activities,<\/li>\n<li>knowledge of the legal context of nuclear licencing and nuclear safety and security in the EU context and in the national context of Italy, Belgium, The Netherlands, Germany will be an asset,<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0thorough knowledge of administrative and financial procedures of the Commission,<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0a University level education in Nuclear Engineering\/ Science, Physics or Chemistry or equivalent is desirable.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>c) Personal qualities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>excellent communication and negotiation skills,<\/li>\n<li>excellent organisational skills and the ability to solve organisational and operational problems via a results-oriented approach,<\/li>\n<li>ability to share information and cooperate with peers and colleagues.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 id=\"d1e151-1-1\" class=\"oj-ti-grseq-1\"><span class=\"oj-bold\">Eligibility requirements<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Candidates will only be considered for the selection phase on the basis of the following formal requirements to be fulfilled by the deadline for applications:<\/p>\n<p><strong><span class=\"oj-italic\">Nationality<\/span><\/strong>: candidates must be a citizen of one of the Member States of the European Union.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span class=\"oj-italic\">University degree or diploma<\/span><\/strong>: candidates must have:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>either a level of education which corresponds to completed university studies attested by a diploma when the normal period of university education is 4 years or more,<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0or a level of education which corresponds to completed university studies attested by a diploma and appropriate professional experience of at least 1 year when the normal period of university education is at least 3 years (this 1 year&#8217;s professional experience cannot be included in the postgraduate professional experience required below).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><span class=\"oj-italic\">Professional experience<\/span><\/strong>: candidates must have at least 15 years postgraduate professional experience at a level to which the qualifications referred to above give admission.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Management experience<\/strong>: at least 5 years of the post-graduate professional experience must have been gained in a high-level management function (2) in a field relevant for this position.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span class=\"oj-italic\">Languages<\/span><\/strong>: candidates must have a thorough knowledge of one of the official languages of the European Union\u00a0and a satisfactory knowledge of another of these official languages. Selection panels will verify during the interview(s) whether candidates comply with the requirement of a satisfactory knowledge of another official EU language.
