The Department of Southeast Asian Studies at the National University of Singapore seeks to fill a position in\u00a0Southeast Asian archaeology. The appointment may be at the level of\u00a0Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor, depending on the applicant’s qualifications.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Asian<\/a><\/p>\n

Description<\/h3>\n

The successful applicant will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in an interdisciplinary area studies department. The Department is particularly interested in candidates who can teach courses in some of the following areas:\u00a0environmental archaeology, premodern art history, early Southeast Asian<\/strong>\u00a0history, museology, textual\/visual\/literary analysis (as pertains to archaeological research), and cultural resource management in Southeast Asia.<\/strong>\u00a0In addition to teaching, the successful candidate will be expected to supervise undergraduate and graduate students. Research specialisation is open but special consideration will be given to those who demonstrate a broad understanding of the region in their work and are comfortable with the latest technological advances in the field. Regional expertise \u2013 mainland or insular Southeast Asia \u2013 is open.<\/p>\n

Requirements<\/h3>\n

Candidates should have expertise in relevant Southeast Asian languages for their research.\u00a0 Senior candidates should demonstrate a professional history of receiving and managing external and competitive grants.<\/p>\n

Remuneration will be internationally competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. The successful candidate may also enjoy housing benefits, relocation allowance, and other benefits depending on the type and duration of appointment and citizenship.<\/p>\n
