The Council of Europe – Cooperation Group to combat Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking in Drugs (Pompidou Group) awards every two years the European Prevention Prize to three active youth drug prevention projects.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

European Drug Prevention Prize Objective<\/h3>\n

The aim of the Prize is to encourage the development of quality drug prevention work that involves young people. The Prize will be awarded to up to three youth projects that will each receive a monetary benefit of EUR 5000.<\/p>\n

Eligibility criteria\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n
    \n
  1. The project must be currently taking place or must have recently finished\u00a0in one (or more) of the following countries:\u00a0Council of Europe member states<\/u><\/a>,\u00a0\u00a0Pompidou Group member states<\/a><\/u>, as well as Algeria , Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon and Tunisia, which are members of the group’s Mediterranean network for co-operation on drugs and addictions (MedNET).
    \nProjects whose work is mainly outside this geographical area are ineligible.<\/li>\n
  2. The project must be run by more than one person and have some structure to it. Projects can be government-sponsored, run by NGOs (nongovernmental organisations), in the private sector, or organised by local communities. Projects do not have to be funded to be eligible,\u00a0they can be entirely voluntary.<\/li>\n
  3. The work of eligible projects must be wholly or mainly in the area of drug prevention.<\/li>\n
  4. Young people, under the age of 25 years, must be involved in the work of the project. There is no lower age limit<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Prize<\/h3>\n

    Prize money<\/strong>\u00a0has been fixed at EUR 5000 per winner. The Prize will be awarded during a Pompidou Group Meeting marking the 50th anniversary of the Group in autumn\/ winter 2021.<\/p>\n

    Drug prevention-related projects are invited to be submitted to the Jury via the Pompidou Group\u2019s Secretariat. The entries will be judged by a Jury composed of seven\u00a0young people from\u00a0the Pompidou Group Member States.<\/p>\n
