The expertise of the department ranges from physics, chemistry, microbiology, social science, geography, economics, to policy analysis. Basic as well as applied research are conducted on some of the major challenges facing society, such as pollution and pollution control mechanisms, management of land, soil, water, air and biodiversity, protection of ecosystem services, and climate change. Advisory services within these areas are offered to ministries and other authorities. Currently, about 150 staff and PhD students are working at the department. The department believes in values of equality, diversity and inclusion, and creating an attractive work\/life balance.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Description<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The selected candidate is expected to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Contribute to preparation of the Danish national emission inventory for\u00a0<span class=\"caps\">LULUCF<\/span>\u00a0\u2013 Land Use, Land Use Change and Forestry<\/li>\n<li>Contribute to existing research and public sector consultancy projects within the area<\/li>\n<li>Establish an externally funded research program within a research area focussing on understanding emissions from the agricultural sector<\/li>\n<li>Contribute to public sector consultancy projects related to\u00a0<span class=\"caps\">LULUCF<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Develop and support cross-disciplinary cooperation within the Faculty of Technical Sciences, as well as, relevant national and international research groups<\/li>\n<li>Supervise graduate (Master and PhD level) students in thesis research projects<\/li>\n<li>Contribute to the development of a new education in environmental science that the department is aiming to establish<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Requirements<\/h3>\n<p>We are looking for a new colleagues with a research background in soil ecology and greenhouse gas emissions in the cultural landscape of temperate environment (agriculture and forestry) for example a degree in agronomy, forestry science, biology or other relevant science education, followed by a research education.<\/p>\n<p>The successful candidate has strong analytical skills and good numeracy, and strong competencies in one or more of the following areas: statistical analysis, database processing, geographic information systems, bioinformatics or programming.<\/p>\n<p>The successful applicant is interested in taking joint responsibility for the Danish emissions inventory for the LULUCF sector and has the desire and ability to support the development of the emission inventory through his\/her research activities. The applicant is further expected to build an externally funded research program within his\/her core interest.<\/p>\n<p>Applicants must present a relevant publication history and have good communicative skills both in writing and orally, and in both Danish and English. If the native language of the candidate is not Danish, then the candidate is expected to learn Danish to be able to carry out advisory work for Danish authorities.
