The United States and Brazil are the two countries with the most infections in the world, and the numbers of infections are rising steadily.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/5-e1584701825681.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-39206\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/5-e1584701825681.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"488\" height=\"237\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/5-e1584701825681.png 1915w, https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/5-e1584701825681-300x146.png 300w, https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/5-e1584701825681-1024x498.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/5-e1584701825681-768x373.png 768w, https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/5-e1584701825681-1536x747.png 1536w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 488px) 100vw, 488px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Infections by country<\/h3>\n<p>As of <strong>May 29, 2020<\/strong>, the countries with the most cases registered are the <strong>United States<\/strong> (1,721,926 cases), <strong>Brazil<\/strong> (438,238), <strong>Peru<\/strong> (141,779), <strong>Canada<\/strong> (89,976) and <strong>Chile<\/strong> (86,943). Own elaboration.<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The countries that have recorded the least infections to date are <strong>Saint Lucia<\/strong> (18), <strong>Antigua and Barbuda<\/strong> (25), <strong>Bahamas<\/strong> (101), <strong>Trinidad and Tobago<\/strong> (116) and Jamaica (569). Again, looking at the number of infections per 100,000 population, the countries least affected by the pandemic to date would be <strong>Venezuela<\/strong> (4.6), <strong>Trinidad and Tobago<\/strong> (8.8), <strong>St. Lucia<\/strong> (10.7), <strong>Paraguay<\/strong> (12.5) and <strong>Costa Rica<\/strong> (16.2).<\/p>\n<h3>Deaths due to Covid-19<\/h3>\n<p>If we consider the lethality of the disease caused by the virus, those countries that have so far registered the highest number of fatalities are the <strong>United States<\/strong> (101,621), <strong>Brazil<\/strong> (26,754), <strong>Mexico<\/strong> (9,044), <strong>Canada<\/strong> (6,982) and <strong>Peru<\/strong> (4,099).
