Self-protection systems for fixed and rotary wing aircraft"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Innovative self-protection systems<\/strong> are crucial to efficiently tackle a wide range of threats and increase the platform survivability in a hostile environment.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/aeroplane-aircraft-airplane-46148.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-17748 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/aeroplane-aircraft-airplane-46148-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/aeroplane-aircraft-airplane-46148-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/aeroplane-aircraft-airplane-46148-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/aeroplane-aircraft-airplane-46148-1024x768.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>One key challenge is to develop a European self-protection system compact enough to be integrated even on a helicopter and capable to counter current and future more agile threats.<\/li>\n<li>The other is to maintain the affordability of the self-protection system while its complexity increases.<\/li>\n<li>To increase the survivability of the platform, the new-generation of self-protection system must be able to detect threats, improve response time and increase the efficiency of the countermeasure.<\/li>\n<li>A new compact European self-protection system should also set the example forward and use, develop and improve standards for subsystem integration.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span class=\"topicdescriptionkind\">Scope<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The proposals must address the development of a complete, advanced and versatile self-protection system for fixed (transport mission) and rotary (combat and transport missions) wing aircrafts self-protection system.<\/p>\n<p>The proposed solution must include the following subsystems:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Missile Warning System (MWS);<\/li>\n<li>Radar Warning Receiver (RWR);<\/li>\n<li>Counter Measure Dispenser System (CMDS);<\/li>\n<li>Expendable Active Decoy (EAD);<\/li>\n<li>Directed InfraRed Counter Measure (DIRCM);<\/li>\n<li>EW manager;<\/li>\n<li>Laser warning receiver;<\/li>\n<li>Other countermeasures.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Targeted activities<\/h3>\n<p>The proposals must cover study and design, not excluding downstream activities, of the proposed solution.<\/p>\n<p>The targeted activities must in particular include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>feasibility study including definition of the concept of operations (CONOPS), system specification, Detailed Requirements Review (DRR) and architecture definition;<\/li>\n<li>detailed design of the system, including the Preliminary Design Review (PDR) and potentially the Critical Design Review (CDR).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The proposals may also include the development of technological demonstrators, with the involvement of platform integrators, in order to support decision making during the design phase.<\/p>\n<p>A detailed planning of the subsequent development phases must be generated, including the identification of implementation priorities, according to operational needs of the Union and its Member States.<\/p>\n<h3>Deadline<\/h3>\n<p>01 December 2020 17:00:00 Brussels time<\/p>\n<h3>More information<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/info\/funding-tenders\/opportunities\/portal\/screen\/opportunities\/topic-details\/edidp-acc-sps-2020;freeTextSearchKeyword=;typeCodes=1;statusCodes=-,31094501;programCode=EDIDP;programDivisionCode=null;focusAreaCode=null;crossCuttingPriorityCode=null;callCode=Default;sortQuery=openingDate;orderBy=desc;onlyTenders=false;topicListKey=topicSearchTablePageState\">Call<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Innovative self-protection systems are crucial to efficiently tackle a wide range of threats and increase the platform survivability in a hostile environment.
