Over the first month under the new regime, both parameters were comfortably exceeded reaching\u00a0<strong>99.9%<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>99.8%<\/strong>\u00a0respectively.<\/p>\n<p>During the same period, the Galileo Return Link Service was available\u00a0<strong>100% of the time<\/strong>, above the target value of 95%. On average, the Galileo system took\u00a0<strong>37 seconds<\/strong>\u00a0to deliver automatic acknowledgement to the beacon. This is significantly better than the target value of 15 minutes, which was achieved\u00a0<strong>99.61%<\/strong>\u00a0of the time.<\/p>\n<h3>Global service<\/h3>\n<p>The Galileo Return Link Service (RLS) is a free-of-charge global service available to Cospas-Sarsat RLS compatible beacons. The new functionality, currently offered uniquely by Galileo, enables a communication link that relays Return Link Messages (RLM) back to the originating beacon through the Galileo Navigation Signal in Space (I\/<dfn class=\"hasTooltip\" title=\"\">NAV<\/dfn>\u00a0E1) \u2013 for more information, see the updated\u00a0SAR\/Galileo Service Definition Document.
