CPC authorities are confident that the commitments will bring the company&#8217;s practices in line with the requirements of EU consumer law.<\/p>\n<p>Booking.com has committed to make the following changes to their practices by 16 June 2020 at the latest:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Make clear to consumers that any statement such as \u201clast room available!\u201d refers\u00a0<strong>only to the offer on the Booking.com platform<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Not present an offer as being time-limited<\/strong>\u00a0if the same price will still be available afterwards;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Clarify how results are ranked<\/strong>\u00a0and, whether payments made by the accommodation provider to Booking.com have influenced its position in the list of results;<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that it is clear when a\u00a0<strong>price comparison is based on different circumstances<\/strong>\u00a0(e.g. stay dates) and not present that comparison as a discount;<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that\u00a0<strong>price comparisons presented as discounts represent genuine savings<\/strong>, e.g. by providing details about the Standard Rate price taken as a reference;<\/li>\n<li>Display the\u00a0<strong>total price that the consumers will have to pay<\/strong>\u00a0(including all unavoidable charges, fees and taxes that can reasonably be calculated in advance) in a clear and prominent way;<\/li>\n<li>Present\u00a0<strong>sold-out accommodation<\/strong>\u00a0in a position in the search results that is appropriate to the search criteria;<\/li>\n<li>Clearly indicate whether an accommodation is offered by a\u00a0<strong>private host or a professional<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>More information<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/commission\/presscorner\/detail\/en\/IP_19_6812\">Press release<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Following dialogue with the European Commission and national consumer authorities, Booking.com has committed to make changes in the way it presents offers, discounts and prices to consumers.
