{"id":17709,"date":"2019-05-20T11:02:56","date_gmt":"2019-05-20T09:02:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/?p=17709"},"modified":"2019-05-20T11:02:56","modified_gmt":"2019-05-20T09:02:56","slug":"summer-school-the-protection-of-fundamental-rights-in-europe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/en\/summer-school-the-protection-of-fundamental-rights-in-europe\/","title":{"rendered":"Summer School &#8221;The Protection of Fundamental Rights in Europe&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>C.I.R.D.E., in cooperation with the\u00a0<a title=\"Open in a new window\" href=\"http:\/\/droit.unistra.fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Law School<\/a><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>of the Strasbourg University, the\u00a0<a title=\"Open in a new window\" href=\"http:\/\/www.kcl.ac.uk\/law\/research\/centres\/european\/index.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Centre for European Law<\/a>\u00a0of King&#8217;s College London and the\u00a0<a title=\"Open in a new window\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ceub.it\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Centro Residenziale Universitario di Bertinoro<\/a>\u00a0(Ce.U.B.), and with the financial support of the\u00a0<a title=\"Open in a new window\" href=\"http:\/\/www.fondazionecariforli.it\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fondazione Cassa dei Risparmi di Forl\u00ec<\/a>, organises every year a <strong>Summer School on &#8220;The Protection of Fundamental Rights in Europe&#8221;.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/New-Erasmus.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-13274 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/New-Erasmus-300x198.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"198\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/New-Erasmus-300x198.png 300w, https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/New-Erasmus.png 569w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The XIXth edition of the <strong>Summer School on &#8220;The Protection of Fundamental Rights in Europe&#8221;<\/strong> aims to provide undergraduate students, practitioners, civil servants and young researchers (Ph.D. candidates \u2013 Post docs) with an<strong> understanding of the role played by fundamental rights at national, European and international level.<\/strong> The Summer School will focus on the the interaction between different levels of protection of fundamental rights in Europe.\u00a0The general courses are about the European Convention on Human Rights, and the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union. The single modules tackle topics alike asylum and migration, EU citizenship, relationship between the CJEU and the ECHR, the margin of appreciation doctrine, constitutional transitions and religious freedom.<\/p>\n<p>The course will consist in<strong> 30 hours of lectures<\/strong> and\/or seminars held in English or French (the working languages), which will take place from 09:30-13:00 and 15:00-16:30 each day (Monday &#8211; Friday). The Summer School places a particular emphasis on the interaction between professors and students, who are expected to demonstrate, during the lectures, a strong interest and a general knowledge of the topics. Students are encouraged to actively engage in the courses.<\/p>\n<p>The Summer School is hosted in the magnificient Rocca of Bertinoro, the ancient seat of the Bishop of the diocesis of Romagna, from <strong>23 to 28 June 2019<\/strong>. The castle has been completely refurbished in 2000 thanks to a joint venture between the University of Bologna and the Provincia of Forl\u00ec Cesena. During the Summer School a number of <strong>leisure activities (wine tasting, aperitif on the beach and much more)<\/strong> is organized by the tutor, who, under his discretion, may organize also nights out.<\/p>\n<h2>Admissions<\/h2>\n<p>Participants are selected on a first to come first to serve basis, provided that they have a sufficient knowledge of the working languages (English and French), until expiry of available places (in this<br \/>\ncase, priority will be given to students of the University of Bologna and to Ph.D. candidates). <strong>Selecte participants will have 5-nights half-board accommodation<\/strong> (lunch and breakfast included) at<strong> the University Centre of Bertinoro<\/strong> (www.ceub.it), thanks to the support provided by the Fondazione Cassa dei Risparmi di Forl\u00ec, plus the possibility to attend the course paying a subsidized\u00a0<strong>participation fee of 150 \u20ac<\/strong> (informations on payment will be passed to selected participants).<\/p>\n<p>Applicants are requested to <strong>send via email their CV<\/strong> (please clearly state name\/surname, residence, date of birth and phone number) and <strong>certificates<\/strong> (or self-certification) attesting<br \/>\nexperiences abroad and knowledge of languages (all documents <strong>merged in a single PDF file<\/strong>).
