{"id":17536,"date":"2023-03-29T03:00:52","date_gmt":"2023-03-29T01:00:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/?p=17536"},"modified":"2023-03-28T12:40:01","modified_gmt":"2023-03-28T10:40:01","slug":"un-youth-volunteers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/en\/un-youth-volunteers\/","title":{"rendered":"UN Youth Volunteers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>United Nations Youth Volunteers are a separate category of UN Volunteers, recently created in response to the United Nations Secretary-General\u2019s call for greater engagement in volunteerism of history\u2019s largest generation of people under 30.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/screen_shot_2018-02-13_at_14.22.09.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-119694 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/screen_shot_2018-02-13_at_14.22.09.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/screen_shot_2018-02-13_at_14.22.09.png 550w, https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/screen_shot_2018-02-13_at_14.22.09-300x164.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Who are UN Youth Volunteers<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Motivated and talented youth between the ages of 18 and 29 (be younger than 29 throughout the duration of their service)\u00a0who want to engage in development and peace initiatives in their\u00a0own country or in another country around the globe.\u00a0Their\u00a0educational background and experience required varies by assignment, but generally work experience over two years is not expected.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Volunteer positions<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Volunteers\u00a0may work in human rights, climate change adaptation, primary health care, disaster management, peacebuilding, youth engagement or many other areas.\u00a0They may work directly in a United Nations agency or be assigned to one of its partner organisations, a university or the government.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Benefits<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Volunteers\u00a0will be rewarded with an experience that will stay with them for the rest of their\u00a0life.\u00a0Their engagement as\u00a0UN Youth Volunteers will be an opportunity to change the world for the better while simultaneously honing your own skills, gaining knowledge and a better understanding of the realities of international development and peacebuilding.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Duration<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">UN Youth Volunteers are sponsored by United Nations agencies, their partners, governments or academic institutions, the length of assignment depends on the requesting entity\u2019s needs.<br \/>\nMost UN Youth Volunteer assignments are between 6\u00a0and 24 months. On occasion, national and international UN Youth Volunteer assignments are less than six months and then are referred to as \u2018short-term\u2019 assignments.\u00a0When UN Youth Volunteers are sponsored by an academic institution, they are called UN Youth University Volunteers.
