{"id":171993,"date":"2026-10-16T03:00:41","date_gmt":"2026-10-16T01:00:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/?p=171993"},"modified":"2026-10-15T10:14:32","modified_gmt":"2026-10-15T08:14:32","slug":"practicas-centro-comun-de-investigacion-comision-europea","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/en\/practicas-centro-comun-de-investigacion-comision-europea\/","title":{"rendered":"Internships \u2013 Joint Research Centre (European Commission)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-pm-slice=\"1 1 []\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/pexels-pavel-danilyuk-8442110-scaled.jpg\" width=\"595\" height=\"397\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>The Joint Research Centre (JRC) is a Directorate-General of the European Commission that provides independent scientific expertise and evidence-based advice to support European Union policies.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">The JRC offers <strong>five-month paid scientific traineeships<\/strong> aimed at university graduates wishing to gain professional experience in research and apply their knowledge in an international and interdisciplinary environment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">The current call for applications is for a placement starting in <strong>March 2027<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">For this call, the JRC plans to select approximately <strong>50 people across 11 scientific and research areas<\/strong>:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Environment and climate.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Energy sustainability.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Security, information and communication technologies (ICT), cybersecurity and technologies for law enforcement.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Data ecosystems, management and analysis for evidence-based policy-making.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Artificial intelligence, machine learning and complex systems.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Space technologies, secure connectivity and geographic information.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Health and consumer protection.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Transport science and sustainable mobility.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Social and political sciences, geopolitics, democracy and scientific communication.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Behavioural sciences, education, economics and financial resilience.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Nuclear science and technology, radiochemistry and radiation protection.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Projects may include research tasks, data analysis, modelling, administrative work and laboratory activities, depending on the field and the needs of each team.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Applicants should consult the project descriptions to identify those that best match their background and experience.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>Requirements:<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Be <strong>a national of an EU Member State<\/strong> or of a <strong>country associated with the<\/strong> relevant <strong>research framework programmes<\/strong>. The call provides for possible additional administrative procedures for candidates from non-EU associated countries.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Hold, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>as a minimum<\/strong><\/span>, a <strong>three-year university degree<\/strong> equivalent to 180 ECTS credits.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>Have obtained their most recent university degree within the five years prior<\/strong> to the closing date of the call for applications, or <strong>be enrolled on a Master\u2019s, PhD or equivalent programme<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Demonstrate a <strong>minimum C1 level of English<\/strong>. In addition, candidates from EU Member States must have a<strong> minimum B2 level in another official EU language.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Comply with any restrictions relating to work placements, employment or other activities carried out in EU institutions, bodies or agencies.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>Benefits and conditions:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-spread=\"false\">\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>Duration:<\/strong>5 months, on-site with limited remote working.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>Monthly remuneration<\/strong>of between <strong>\u20ac1,338.20 and \u20ac1,741.20<\/strong>, depending on the place of assignment (2026 figures).<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Possible<strong> travel allowance<\/strong> as a partial contribution towards travel expenses, subject to conditions and budgetary availability.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">The Commission <strong>does not deduct tax or social security contributions<\/strong>; each participant must fulfil their own tax obligations.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>Internship locations:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">The internships take place at one of the following JRC scientific centres:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Geel (Belgium).<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Ispra (Italy).<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Karlsruhe (Germany).<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Petten (Netherlands).<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Seville (Spain).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">You may indicate your preferred location on the application form.
