    Between 4 May and 31 July 2026, hundreds of journalists from the 27 EU countries submitted their entries for the award. Of the 344 entries, 10 made it through to the final round.<\/span><\/p>\n

    The winning entry will be announced at a ceremony taking place on the afternoon of 21 October 2026<\/strong> at the European Parliament\u2019s headquarters in Strasbourg (the Daphne Caruana Galizia press room). The finalists will attend the ceremony and the seminar on press freedom organised on the same day.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Journalists accredited to the EU will shortly receive an invitation to both events.<\/span><\/p>\n

    The seminar will examine the role of journalists in today\u2019s world and the threats they face, with particular focus on the ongoing cases of Daphne Caruana Galizia<\/strong> and Jan Kuciak<\/strong>. Vera Politkovskaya, daughter of Anna Politkovskaya<\/strong>, will also attend the seminar.<\/span><\/p>\n

    About the award<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

    The Daphne Caruana Galizia Journalism Prize<\/strong>, established in 2020, is open to professional journalists and teams of professional journalists of any nationality who submit in-depth reports published or broadcast by media organisations based in any of the 27 EU countries. An independent jury, comprising representatives from the press and civil society in the 27 countries, as well as members of leading European journalism associations, will select the winning entry. The prize and its \u20ac20,000 award demonstrate the European Parliament\u2019s commitment to investigative journalism and the importance of press freedom. A record 344 entries were submitted this year.<\/span><\/p>\n
