The <strong>European Space Agency (ESA)<\/strong> is offering a postgraduate scholarship in <strong>Noordwijk, the Netherlands<\/strong>, to take part in projects relating to the resilience and security of European space systems.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">The role is based in the <strong>Directorate for Resilience, Navigation and Connectivity<\/strong>, where you will work at the intersection of <strong>engineering, security analysis and public policy<\/strong>, collaborating with technical and institutional teams.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Analysing threats affecting <strong>European space systems<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Studying risks related to <strong>cyber-attacks, interference, signal spoofing and vulnerabilities<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Conducting analyses on <strong>political and geopolitical<\/strong> issues relevant to space security.<\/li>\n<li>Contributing to <strong>security, risk and resilience<\/strong> assessments.<\/li>\n<li>Prepare reports and analyses for ESA management and other bodies.<\/li>\n<li>Research open-source information on threats, technologies and incidents.<\/li>\n<li>Collaborate with other ESA teams and with international institutions and partners.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>What kind of candidate are they looking for?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">This call for applications is aimed at individuals who have recently completed, or are in their final year of, a <strong>Master\u2019s degree<\/strong> in:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Aerospace, telecommunications or systems engineering.<\/li>\n<li>Cybersecurity, computer science or security engineering.<\/li>\n<li>Security studies, international relations, political science or geopolitics.<\/li>\n<li>Other disciplines related to the duties of the post.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Skills and knowledge<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Required:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Knowledge of the <strong>technical and functional areas relevant<\/strong> to the post.<\/li>\n<li>General knowledge of <strong>the space sector<\/strong> and ESA\u2019s activities.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to <strong>analyse, communicate and summarise<\/strong> complex technical or regulatory information.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work independently and within <strong>multicultural teams<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated interest in <strong>space security, resilience, geopolitics and European space affairs<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The following will be regarded as an advantage:<\/p>\n<ul data-spread=\"false\">\n<li>Experience gained through <strong>university projects, work placements, research or extracurricular activities<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of <strong>cyber security, risk and threat analysis, satellite communications or navigation systems<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of <strong>European security and defence policy<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Experience in <strong>open-source intelligence (OSINT)<\/strong> research.<\/li>\n<li>Technical training combined with knowledge <strong>of<\/strong> or an interest in <strong>security policy, international relations or geopolitics<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>A background in public policy or international affairs, coupled with an interest in <strong>space systems and the technical threats they face<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Skills such as a <strong>results-oriented approach, cooperation, relationship management, continuous improvement and strategic\/forward thinking<\/strong> will also be taken into account.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Other aspects to bear in mind<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\"><strong>Motivation, professional outlook and career objectives<\/strong> will be assessed during the final stages of the selection process.<\/p>\n<p>Due to the nature of the role, appointment may be subject to <strong>security clearance, export controls and background checks<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Nationality<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Applications are open to nationals of <strong>ESA Member States<\/strong>,
