In addition, the <strong>Cicero<\/strong> programme offers the chance to take part in projects relating to issues relevant to European regions and cities, encouraging participants\u2019 initiative and creativity.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The CoR offers various types of work placements and study visits, tailored to different academic and professional profiles.<\/p>\n<h3 12pt;\"><strong>Your role:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">As a participant in the Cicero placement scheme, you will join one of the departments of the Committee of the Regions and contribute to its day-to-day activities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">During your placement, you will be able to:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">gain an insight into how a <strong>European institution<\/strong> works;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">work on issues relating to a wide range of <strong>EU policies<\/strong>;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">work alongside professionals and other trainees in an international environment;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">develop professional skills and knowledge about the workings of the European Union;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">take part in projects relating to the interests of <strong>European regions and cities<\/strong>;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">develop your own initiatives through the <strong>YFactor<\/strong> programme;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">create projects such as <strong>conferences, podcasts or e-books<\/strong>, depending on your interests and the host department.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Standard placements last <strong>five months<\/strong>, are <strong>full-time (40 hours per week)<\/strong> and take place in <strong>Brussels, Belgium<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">They are organised into two annual sessions:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-spread=\"false\">\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>Spring session:<\/strong> from <strong>16 February to 15 July<\/strong>;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>Autumn session:<\/strong> <strong>16 September to 15 February<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>Basic requirements:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">be <strong>a citizen of a Member State of the European Union<\/strong>;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">a limited number of <strong>third-country<\/strong> nationals, including those from the United Kingdom, may be accepted in exceptional cases, provided they meet the legal requirements to reside and work in Belgium;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">have obtained a <strong>full university degree<\/strong> or have completed at least the <strong>third year of higher education<\/strong>, university <strong>studies<\/strong> or equivalent, before the application deadline;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">have a <strong>thorough knowledge of an official EU language<\/strong>;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">have a satisfactory knowledge of <strong>English or French<\/strong>;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">must not have previously undertaken more than <strong>eight weeks\u2019 internship<\/strong>, whether paid or unpaid, at an EU institution, body, delegation or representative office;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">not have held any kind of employment with a <strong>European institution or body<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong data-start=\"223\" data-end=\"246\">What sort of candidate are they looking for?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">The Committee is looking for young people with an interest in <strong>European policies<\/strong>, the ability to adapt and the motivation to work in an <strong>international and multilingual<\/strong> environment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Initiative, the ability to work as part of a team and an interest in developing projects related to the challenges and opportunities facing <strong>European regions and cities<\/strong> will also be valued.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>Application process:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Applications for the Cicero placements must be submitted <strong>exclusively online<\/strong> via <a href=\"https:\/\/candform.cor.europa.eu\/\">the Committee of the Regions\u2019 application form<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">During the application process, candidates must:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-spread=\"false\">\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">select up to <strong>three preferred<\/strong> CoR <strong>departments<\/strong>;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">complete all mandatory fields;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">provide <strong>accurate and verifiable<\/strong> information;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">carefully review their application before submitting it.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">The form may be amended up to the submission deadline, but only <strong>one application<\/strong> is permitted <strong>per internship period<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">False statements may result in the <strong>rejection of the application or the cancellation of the grant<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Selection timetable<\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>Spring session \u2014 16 February to 15 July<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-spread=\"false\">\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>Application:<\/strong> from <strong>1 July to 1 October<\/strong>, until 12:00 (Brussels time), of the previous year;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>Shortlisting and interviews:<\/strong> November;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>Selection:<\/strong> last day<\/strong> to submit your application, as high data traffic could prevent your application from being received correctly.
