experience<\/strong> at the heart of the European Union, the <strong>paid work placements offered by the Council of the European Union (Consilium)<\/strong> in Brussels will give you a first-hand insight into how its institutions operate and enable you to develop your skills in areas such as policy-making, law, communications, administration and information technology.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Consilium internship programme enables <strong>university graduates from a range of disciplines<\/strong> to gain first-hand insight into the work of one of the EU\u2019s main institutions, take part in its day-to-day activities and gain experience in <strong>European policy-making and legislation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The call for applications currently open is for the internship period running <strong>from 1 February to 30 June 2027<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Benefits:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>\u20ac1,538.16 net per month<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li>A <strong>five-month<\/strong> internship;<\/li>\n<li>Work in <strong>Brussels<\/strong>, at the heart of the European institutions;<\/li>\n<li>A <strong>travel allowance<\/strong> to help cover travel costs from your place of residence;<\/li>\n<li>For those recruited from a location more than <strong>50 km from Brussels<\/strong>, a contribution towards travel expenses at the start and end of the placement;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Two days\u2019 annual leave for every month worked<\/strong>, in addition to public holidays and days when the Council\u2019s offices are closed;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Accident insurance<\/strong> cover throughout the duration of the placement;<\/li>\n<li>Gain practical experience of how <strong>the EU works and how its policies are shaped<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li>Participate in the day-to-day activities of <strong>the Council of the European Union<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li>Contribute to work relating to <strong>decisions and policies of importance to the European Union<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li>Develop <strong>professional<\/strong> knowledge and <strong>skills<\/strong> in an international environment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Your role:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As an intern, you will have the opportunity to join different departments and teams within the Council, depending on your background and professional profile.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Policy development:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>contribute to work relating to the <strong>development and coordination of European Union policies<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li>gain first-hand experience of the processes involved in preparing and negotiating European policies;<\/li>\n<li>take part in the day-to-day activities of the teams supporting the Council\u2019s work;<\/li>\n<li>gain experience of how decisions are prepared at European level.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Law:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>work on issues relating to <strong>European Union law<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li>familiarise yourself with the procedures and legal framework of the European institutions;<\/li>\n<li>contribute to legal tasks within the Council\u2019s departments;<\/li>\n<li>gain practical experience in an international legal environment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Administration:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>take part in the Council\u2019s administrative and management activities;<\/li>\n<li>work alongside the institution\u2019s various departments and teams;<\/li>\n<li>gain experience of the internal workings of a European institution.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Communication:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>contribute to activities relating to the <strong>EU\u2019s institutional communication<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li>work on disseminating information on the Council\u2019s activities and decisions;<\/li>\n<li>develop communication skills within an international and multicultural environment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Translation:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>work in a <strong>multilingual<\/strong> professional environment;<\/li>\n<li>take part in tasks relating to the institution\u2019s translation and language services;<\/li>\n<li>gain experience in the European Union\u2019s institutional communication.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Information technology:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>assist with projects and activities relating to <strong>information technology<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li>gain experience in the technological environment of a European institution;<\/li>\n<li>work with professionals specialising in different areas of IT.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Qualifications, experience and skills:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Essential:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>European Union citizenship<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li>a <strong>university degree or higher qualification<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li>the qualification must have been obtained <strong>no later than the deadline for submitting applications<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li>a <strong>very good<\/strong> command <strong>of English or French<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li>knowledge of <strong>at least one other official EU language<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li>you<strong>must not have previously worked in another European Union institution<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Desirable:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The programme is aimed at graduates from a range of disciplines, so the desired academic profile will depend on the field of the work placement for which the application is being made.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It will be particularly important to have:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>knowledge relevant to the <strong>chosen professional field<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li>an interest in the <strong>workings of the European Union<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li>the ability to work in an <strong>international and multicultural environment<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li>the ability to learn and adapt;<\/li>\n<li>good communication and teamwork skills.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Other opportunities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In addition to the general programme, the Council offers an <strong>affirmative action programme<\/strong> under which it reserves <strong>up to six traineeship posts<\/strong> each year <strong>for EU nationals with a recognised disability<\/strong>, providing any special adjustments that may be required in the workplace.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">There is also a specific programme for <strong>students at national schools of public administration<\/strong>, offering placements lasting between <strong>two and five months<\/strong>, designed to familiarise them with the processes and policies of the European institutions.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:
