The meeting was co-chaired by the <\/span><span dir=\"auto\">EU Anti-Trafficking Coordinator <\/span><span dir=\"auto\">and focused on recent developments in the fight against human trafficking.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span dir=\"auto\">This <\/span><strong><span dir=\"auto\">fifth meeting of the Working Group <\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\">addressed the practical challenges of applying the principle of non-prosecution, cooperation with Latin American countries, and the new operational initiative on judicial cooperation under the EMPACT Act against Trafficking in Human Beings. It also focused on child trafficking in the context of institutional care and awareness-raising campaigns, as well as on a consultation on the new EU Strategy to Combat Trafficking in Human Beings. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/pexels-sora-shimazaki-5926357-scaled-e1783065826604.jpg\" width=\"428\" height=\"309\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span dir=\"auto\">The event brought together prosecutors and judicial professionals working on cases related to human trafficking, representatives of the European Commission, Europol and national authorities, as well as representatives from partner countries in the Western Balkans, Latin American countries, the EL PACCTO 2.0 project, the OSCE, national members of Eurojust and liaison prosecutors.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em><span dir=\"auto\">\u201cTrafficking in human beings is a crime that knows no borders, and our response must be equally coordinated. This meeting demonstrates the commitment of specialist prosecutors across the EU to strengthening cooperation in the fight against trafficking.
