A new call opens!!!<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Young people of 18 who are citizens of the EU and like to travel can now do so more easily thanks to the “Discover\u00a0 EU” initiative, first proposed during the 2014 European Youth Event and later endorsed by MEPs .<\/p>\n

“Discover EU”<\/h3>\n

Around 30,000 young Europeans aged 18 received free train tickets to travel the EU in 2018. At least another 20,000 young people will benefit from this initiative in the next round. Only European citizens born between July 2, 2000 and July 1, 2001 can apply for tickets in the next round. Participants may travel for a minimum period of one day and a maximum of 30 days to at least one foreign country between August 1, 2019 and January 31, 2020. In principle, this initiative is intended for travel by train, but those young people with disabilities or who come from peripheral areas will have other possibilities.<\/p>\n

Support from the European Parliament<\/h3>\n

The European Parliament has been a strong supporter of this idea and has voted three resolutions in which it has expressed its support. MEPs believe that the initiative will allow young people to experience Europe’s diversity, understand themselves better and learn more about Europe. They hope to encourage young EU citizens to travel to the EU and meet people from other member countries, which will boost European identity and reinforce the common values \u200b\u200bof the EU.<\/p>\n
