These fellowships support researchers who have completed a PhD to carry out their research abroad and acquire new skills in different disciplines and sectors. Researchers will benefit from working with cutting-edge scientific teams and contributing to the EU\u2019s competitiveness through their cutting-edge research. The application window is open from today and will close on <\/span><strong><span dir=\"auto\">9 September 2026.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/educacion-scaled.jpg\" width=\"524\" height=\"348\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span dir=\"auto\">Since their inception in 1996, <\/span><strong><span dir=\"auto\">more than 150,000 researchers<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\">have participated in the Marie Sk\u0142odowska-Curie Actions, <\/span><strong><span dir=\"auto\">including 23 Nobel laureates<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\">, highlighting their long-standing contribution to scientific excellence and international cooperation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span dir=\"auto\">This call forms part of the more than <strong>\u20ac1.25 billion allocated to the MSCA in 2026 <\/strong>under Horizon Europe 2021\u20132027 to foster excellence in research, as highlighted in the <strong>\u2018Choose Europe\u2019 <\/strong>initiative. Through this funding, the MSCA will continue to support research via doctoral and postdoctoral programmes, research grants and collaborative research and innovation projects.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span dir=\"auto\">The President of the European Commission, Ursula <\/span><strong><span dir=\"auto\">von der Leyen<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\">, said:<\/span><em><span dir=\"auto\">\u201cEurope\u2019s future is built on knowledge, discovery and talent. For 30 years, the Marie Sk\u0142odowska-Curie Actions have empowered researchers to push the boundaries of science and turn ideas into progress for society. Today we renew that commitment. To researchers around the world, our message is clear: bring your ambition, bring your talent: Europe is the place for you to innovate and thrive.\u201d<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span dir=\"auto\">Building on the programme\u2019s legacy, the anniversary will be celebrated throughout 2026 under the theme <\/span><strong><em><span dir=\"auto\">\u201830 years of<\/span><\/em><em><span dir=\"auto\">curiosity that changes the<\/span><\/em><span dir=\"auto\">world\u2019<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\">, highlighting the programme\u2019s achievements and its impact on research careers. Stories, milestones and highlights are already featured on<\/span><span dir=\"auto\">a dedicated anniversary website<\/span><span dir=\"auto\">, alongside contributions from the MSCA community, including<\/span><span dir=\"auto\">an interview with Prof. Dr H\u00e9l\u00e8ne Langevin-Joliot, granddaughter of Marie Sk\u0142odowska-Curie<\/span><span dir=\"auto\">, amongst other activities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span dir=\"auto\">Investing in the training and professional development of researchers.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span dir=\"auto\">In addition to the call for MSCA postdoctoral fellowships, the Commission will launch two further MSCA calls later in 2026 to support the training of researchers and strengthen research careers in Europe:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><strong><span dir=\"auto\">MSCA Doctoral Networks<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\">(28 May \u2013 24 November 2026): <\/span><strong><span dir=\"auto\">\u20ac593.03 million<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\">to attract and train doctoral candidates in academia and other sectors, such as industry, business and public administration. The programme also includes joint PhDs and industrial PhDs, equipping researchers with a broad set of transferable skills and improving their career prospects.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong><span dir=\"auto\">MSCA Choose Europe for Science<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\">(8 December 2026 \u2013 6 April 2027): <\/span><strong><span dir=\"auto\">\u20ac51.25 million <\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\">to enhance the attractiveness of European research careers by tackling precariousness and offering excellent working conditions, transforming the brain drain in the research and innovation sector into a talent gain. It will support projects in which academic and non-academic organisations recruit and co-fund postdoctoral researchers with the prospect of employment beyond the project period. This upcoming call builds on the 2025 pilot action, the results of which will be published in the coming weeks.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span dir=\"auto\">\u00a0Two other MSCA 2026 calls were already launched at the end of last year:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><strong><span dir=\"auto\">MSCA Staff Exchanges<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\">(deadline 16 April 2026): <\/span><strong><span dir=\"auto\">\u20ac97.92 million <\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\">to fund collaborative research and innovation projects, fostering international, cross-sectoral and interdisciplinary exchanges and knowledge sharing at all stages of the innovation chain.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong><span dir=\"auto\">MSCA COFUND<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\">(deadline 8 April 2026): <\/span><strong><span dir=\"auto\">\u20ac105.46 million <\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\">to help organisations establish or improve their own doctoral training programmes and postdoctoral fellowships. The aim is to attract and retain talented researchers, developing their skills and advancing their professional careers.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span dir=\"auto\">Fund<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span dir=\"auto\">From their beginnings as European research grants in the 1990s to their pivotal role in shaping today\u2019s research careers, the Marie Sk\u0142odowska-Curie Actions have become the European Union\u2019s flagship programme for the training, mobility and professional development of researchers, open to all disciplines and sectors.
