The establishment of this Dialogue was agreed upon in the EU-Jordan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership of January 2025. Following the first EU-Jordan Summit on 8 January 2026, the Dialogue is a further step in continuing to strengthen this key partnership, reinforcing cooperation on a wide range of peace, security and defence issues of common interest.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ual.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/helocasting-671186_1920.jpg\" alt=\"defensa UE\" width=\"549\" height=\"392\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span dir=\"auto\">The delegations exchanged views on their respective peace and security initiatives, sharing perspectives on ongoing developments and possible common approaches, in particular in Gaza\/Occupied Palestinian Territories, Syria, Lebanon and Ukraine. Among other things, the EU and Jordan agreed to step up their cooperation in training Palestinian Civil Police officers for deployment in Gaza, within the framework of the US-led Comprehensive Plan and UN Security Council Resolution 2803.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span dir=\"auto\">The EU and Jordan representatives also worked on several areas of cooperation, such as maritime security in the Red Sea and respect for international maritime law; the fight against terrorism, including through the prevention of radicalisation and violent extremism and cooperation in multilateral forums; and substantial EU support to the Jordanian Armed Forces through the European Peace Facility.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span dir=\"auto\">Both sides reaffirmed their willingness to cooperate in pursuit of long-term stability, peace and security and multilateral order, and underlined the need to respect international law and international humanitarian law.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span dir=\"auto\">The meeting was co-chaired by the Deputy Secretary-General for Peace, Security and Defence of the European External Action Service, Charles Fries, and the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, His Excellency Daifallah Al-Fayez.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span dir=\"auto\">The EU-Jordan security and defence dialogue is held regularly, alternately in Amman and Brussels.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>More information: <a href=\"https:\/\/north-africa-middle-east-gulf.ec.europa.eu\/news\/jordan-eu-security-and-defence-dialogue-2026-02-06_en\">European Commission.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On 4 February 2026, the first EU-Jordan Security and Defence Dialogue was held in Amman.
